The Ukrainian media company launched tests of its commercial channels 1+1 and 2+2 on another multiplex from a satellite in an orbital position of 4.8°E. The broadcast is encoded in the BISS system.
The broadcaster took advantage of the capacity of the SatTelecom operator, located at the frequency 12.265 GHz, pol. H (SR: 30000, FEC: 3/4; DVB-S/QPSK). Technical tests of channels 1+1 and 2+2 are identified as 1+1_ASO and TET_ASO.
The purpose of their launch is unknown, but in this way the broadcaster can test the technical capabilities of others satellite operators. One option is to test changes to the transmission configuration in order to later deploy the original distribution.
It is also possible that the broadcaster is conducting tests for another broadcaster or client. 1+1 Media is both a broadcaster and operator for its TV channels 1+1, 2+2, TET, 1+1 International, PlusPlus, Bigudi and Unian TV.
The channels are available on the Astra 4A satellite (4.8°E) thanks to its own uplink station. All stations broadcast on the frequency 11.766 GHz, pol. H (SR: 27500, FEC: 3/4; DVB-S/QPSK). Most of them are in unencrypted form (FTA), with the exception of 1+1 International (encoded in BISS).

Lawyer Pavel Chikov, representing the interests of Telegram, said that the messenger, in principle, cannot fulfill the requirement of the Russian authorities to provide encryption keys to ensure intelligence services access to users’ correspondence.
