Review of the LG G4 smartphone: natural leather. UHANS U100 – an inexpensive fashion smartphone with premium leather trim Smartphone in a leather case

For many shoppers, the words “inexpensive” and “premium” absolutely cannot go together. But the UHANS company is ready to destroy these stereotypes with its new fashion smartphone UHANS U100.

The design of the UHANS U 100 smartphone suggests that the creators of this device were clearly haunted by the glory of Vertu phones. Although, surprisingly, the manufacturer managed to create an original and stylish gadget that will emphasize the individuality of its owner. The body of this device is a harmonious combination of a metal frame, plastic inserts and seamless leather finishing on the back panel.

Adding sophistication to the UHANS U100 smartphone is a metal insert above the speaker grille, a strip of metal under the display with slots for an external speaker, and a hexagonal plate with a rear camera and LED flash. You even notice in this smartphone the screws and rivets, as well as the V-shaped red line on the plate under the camera, which do not seem at all out of place here, but on the contrary add a sense of style to the appearance of the device.

In general, you can enjoy the appearance of the UHANS U100 smartphone for a long time, but you should not forget about the technical part of this device. And it is represented by a 4-core 64-bit processor MT6735 with a clock frequency of 1.3 GHz, 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory. The display diagonal of this smartphone is 4.7 inches and its resolution is 720p. On board the device there is also a slot for Micro-SD memory cards up to 64 GB, which is located under the removable back cover of the case. The battery capacity of the UHANS U100 smartphone is 2200 mAh, and the built-in cameras have a resolution of 13 MP and 5 MP. Thus, in terms of technical equipment, this device is a typical representative of the budget class of smartphones.

The UHANS U100 smartphone is available in black body color and black leather finish on the back cover. The thickness of the device is 9.15 mm, and the weight is 159 grams. The new product will run on the Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system with support for all popular smart functions. But the most impressive thing about the UHANS U100 smartphone is its price. You can pre-order this device on the Geekbuying online store for $119.99. And this is an amazingly low price for a smartphone with a premium look! So, hurry up and make your decision as the pre-sale will last until October 10th.

Outstanding characteristics - processor performance, the number of megapixels of the camera, the amount of memory - are increasingly less decisive when choosing a smartphone. When most tasks occur, manufacturers have to work more and more actively on the appearance and convenience of flagship devices. Especially those manufacturers who, like Apple or Samsung, cannot rely on a big name and marketing budgets amounting to hundreds of millions of dollars.

Wherein For a smartphone with a 5.5-inch screen, the LG G4 is quite compact(not counting the thickness) - it is, for example, almost 2 mm narrower and 9 mm shorter than the iPhone 6 Plus. In terms of ease of operation with one hand and the overall impression of the gadget, these 2 mm are quite important. Although, of course, if you don’t like big phones in principle, then the LG G4 is not for you, and the original location of the mechanical control keys on the rear panel will not help. The Nexus 5 is noticeably more comfortable in the hand.

The G4's display has the same resolution as its predecessor - 2560 x 1440 pixels, that is, Quad HD. But the quality has improved noticeably over the year - at maximum brightness the screen no longer looks dim, color rendition has improved, and power consumption has been optimized. LG (as well as other manufacturers) still fail to convince me that Quad HD resolution is somehow better in practice than Full HD - at least at such a relatively modest diagonal, I don’t see a difference. But, apparently, the trend cannot be reversed, darknessologists have already done their dirty deed and “just Full HD” will soon become the lot of mid-range smartphones. It's a pity - just a high-quality FullHD screen would probably allow the device to work longer. But then, in comparison of specifications, the G4 would be inferior to the Galaxy S6 from its arch-rival, Samsung, and LG could not allow this.

The camera in the LG G4 is one of the best and most likely will not disappoint even those who are used to shooting on an iPhone or Galaxy S6. Firstly, the record f/1.8 aperture allows maximum light to pass through to the 16-megapixel matrix, so even at dusk or indoors, taking a high-quality photo is not a problem. Secondly, The issue of white balance, which is sore for most smartphone cameras, is finally and irrevocably resolved here. using a special sensor that determines the “correct” tones in the frame, and the system really works flawlessly. Thirdly, the camera can be easily called up on a locked smartphone by pressing the “volume down” key twice. Finally, all this together “just works”, the automatic mode is quite enough for high-quality photographs, selfies from the 8-megapixel front camera also come out at an excellent level. When shooting video in UltraHD resolution, the device does not overheat.

For those whose creative ambitions extend further than usual, in the G4 LG has implemented perhaps the most intelligent manual mode to date (compared to camera applications from other smartphone manufacturers). If you wish, you can adjust everything manually - white balance, shutter speed (up to 30 seconds!), sensitivity, focus, shoot in RAW for subsequent processing on a computer (this will give you the opportunity not to go too far with sharpness). In general, those who understand the subject are given enormous scope for creativity.

There are, of course, some shortcomings. For my refined taste The sharpening filter is too strong, and focusing, although laser-based, copes with its main task - to provide a frame clearly focused on the desired object - not as often as we would like. Last year, LG said that it borrowed the basis of the laser autofocus system from colleagues who developed robotic vacuum cleaners. Probably, we should have left it to vacuum cleaners, and a traditional solution would have done a better job of focusing in the end. There is hope, however, that this flaw only affects the test sample, and in smartphones that hit store shelves, autofocus will work as it should.

The LG G4 runs on a processor with “only” six cores, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 808. The eight cores of the “related” Snapdragon 810, as we remember, can get very hot, so LG's six-core modesty is welcome. In the end, complete with 3 GB of RAM, the smartphone does not slow down in any of the tasks assigned to it, the interface works smoothly, and any games start and run without lag.

However, an attempt to run the Epic Citadel benchmark in the “native” resolution and at maximum quality settings led to a drop in frame rate to almost 30 per second. For comparison, the Galaxy S6 in the same conditions produces 47 fps, although it gets desperately warm at the same time. But in the more traditional FullHD, which is what most games are designed for, everything just flies on the G4.

The 3000 mAh battery does not set any records, given the plump body, one could even expect a larger capacity. But in practice, even with the most active use, I never needed to connect the smartphone to the charger until late in the evening. As a rule, at this point there was still 20-30% charge left. Less active users can easily use the LG G4 without recharging for one and a half, or even two days. The smartphone played a video in an MKV container with HD resolution at 70% brightness and disabled wireless interfaces on one full charge for just under 6 hours, this is an average result.

LG decided to do without fast charging technology; wireless charging is also not supported, but the battery can be easily replaced manually, which is important for many active users who have to work a lot with their smartphone away from outlets. The second plus that distinguishes the LG G4 from the flagship Samsung () is the presence of a slot for microSD memory cards, complementing the built-in 32 GB of memory. There is another feature that other manufacturers are increasingly abandoning - FM radio. In addition, the Dual-SIM version is supplied to Russia by default, although the device has only one radio module (unlike, for example, or).

The LG G4 had no problems with calls, the interlocutors heard me clearly and clearly, calls were never interrupted even in rural areas outside the Moscow region. Unfortunately (I emphasize that this may also be due to non-final software on the device), with data transfer everything is not so ideal - at the same point where the iPhone 6 Plus confidently worked in the MTS LTE network with a low signal level (1-2 bars) , LG G4, not seeing the fourth generation network, unsuccessfully tried to reach Internet resources via GPRS. Although, where the signal was stronger, there were no longer any problems with “catching” 4G and transmitting data.

The LG G4 interface - LG UX 4.0 - is a slightly modified and improved version of the G3 interface.

The device runs on Android 5.1, the latest version of Google's operating system, notifications are made in its style, and the home screen also looks as it should, quite minimalist. But when you go to the settings menu, dialer or any other creation of LG UI designers, you begin to desperately nostalgic for the pure Nexus version of the platform. Searching for the desired item in the settings menu, divided “for convenience” into four tabs, requires on average one and a half times more time than usual. Even to turn off the annoying rattle every time you press the screen (does this help anyone work with a smartphone? Please respond if there are any) I had to go through a rather long and winding path. Fortunately, after some time I discovered that you can switch the display of settings items to a single list mode.

Truly I tell you - keep the Android interface clean on your smartphones, and you will find increased sales, at least in the CIS, Europe and the USA.? Not Samsung, no, but Nexus 5, also, by the way, made by LG. That is, people who use a smartphone for its intended purpose - including reading interesting sites - have made their choice.

What might appeal to you about the LG G4? Many, especially if you are a classic Android fan. If you know exactly why smartphones need replaceable batteries, microSD expansion slots and support for flash drives via USB-OTG. If you are sure that the device should lie securely and comfortably in your hand, and not slip out of it, scattering on the asphalt with all its glass and metal splendor, leaving you alone with an underpaid consumer loan. The leather back covers of the LG G4 really not only look beautiful and solid, helping to stand out, but also provide excellent grip on the palm, no worse than soft touch plastic.

Yes, the price of the G4 at the start of sales is not easy - 39,990 rubles. This is even 3-4,000 higher than the Samsung flagship (there is now a price war on it, so the price may rise back), for the all-metal HTC One M9 the “officials” want the same, for the Sony Xperia Z3 - more than ten thousand less, for very worthy “flagships” from China - even half of this amount. There is a suspicion that with a stable ruble exchange rate, the price will quickly drop to more reasonable values. In the end, people should have a beautiful and original alternative to flagships made of glass and metal that are inaccessible to most. Albeit with a number of disadvantages, such as a confusing interface with wild blue color accents or the inability to catch an LTE network where the signal is weak.

So, let's summarize

Pros:
- Outstanding design of the back cover made of genuine leather
- Excellent screen with excessively high resolution
- High quality camera
- Replaceable battery and memory card slot

Minuses:
- LG engineers didn’t have enough passion for the design of the front part of the device
- The LG UX 4.0 interface brings a tear to a person who is accustomed to pure Android
- Not a flagship processor, although the performance lag can only be noticed in benchmarks
- Problems connecting to LTE networks in weak signal conditions

It's no secret that since the creation of the first phone, plastic has remained the most popular material for the production of its body. Firstly, it can hardly be called expensive, and secondly, it copes quite well with falls and other types of damage. And in the event of an unsuccessful development of events, replacing the housing will not be so problematic. Be that as it may, over time, many people wanted something new. For example, today we remember smartphones with leather or leather-like back covers. Let's begin.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3

The honor of opening today's list goes to the slightly outdated Galaxy Note 3, which was introduced back in September 2013. It’s impossible to call this a coincidence no matter how hard you try. The fact is that it was the third generation of the South Korean line of phablets that was the first to receive something resembling leather.

In addition to the unusual back cover material for that time, the smartphone also received a huge 5.7-inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, 3 GB of RAM and a 13-megapixel camera.

Following the Note 3, company representatives decided to implement the above-mentioned feature into a cheaper device. It, as you probably already guessed, was the Galaxy Grand 2.

Among the characteristics of the smartphone, the 5.2-inch screen, 1.5 GB of RAM and the Snapdragon 400 processor are worthy of mention.

Perhaps Samsung's success has attracted the attention of other manufacturers. Be that as it may, in May last year a new brainchild of Huawei was presented.

Among the main differences of the latter are an eight-core MediaTek processor, a 5.5-inch HD display, a 13-megapixel camera and 2 GB of RAM. The smartphone is sold exclusively in China, and therefore, if something happens, you will need to try hard to buy it.

Unlike its predecessor, the Note 4 does not have a seamed lid, but the texture of the latter remains the same.

Despite the change described above, the proprietary S-Pen stylus remains in place.

According to representatives of the resource phonearena, another device with a special surface was the Note Edge. It is absolutely impossible to forget about him. First of all, due to the asymmetrical curve of the right edge of its display.

Motorola Moto X

The leather used in Moto X is real leather, and this is the reason why this material is not implemented by default. Abroad, adding this feature will cost $25.

LG G4

Finally, the latest portion of attention to leather lovers is the new flagship LG G4. And although many users do not approve of the decision, the smartphone will still find its buyer.

Have you ever owned a non-plastic smartphone? How does it feel? Share your impressions in the comments.

In the fierce struggle for the user's wallet, smartphone manufacturers resort to many tricks. Moreover, competition in the entry-level and mid-range segments is no less serious than among flagships. If just one or two years ago, when purchasing such phones, the owner was doomed to suffering and torment, but now the level of performance is high, the cameras are good, and the screens are of high quality. All this confirms the release of the new Micromax Canvas 5 Lite Q462 in August of this year, its sales started in the online store micromaxstore.ru. Inexpensive phone with support for fourth generation networks.

More than 2 years have passed since the release of our first review of a smartphone from Micromax; during this time the company has confidently gained a foothold in the Russian market. Official warranty service is provided.
