How do I reinstall Office?

If you are reinstalling Office package on a computer other than the one where it was originally installed, please note the following.

    Office 365 subscribers: It is recommended that you disable the unwanted installation first and then uninstall it from your PC or Mac. See article. Keep in mind that an Office 365 Home subscription allows you to install Office on up to five PCs or Macs, Office 365 Personal only on one, and Office 365 University on two. Installing Office on additional computers not planned will result in unlicensed product and activation related errors.

    Owners of a one-time purchase of Office 2016, such as Office Home & Student, Office Home & Business, or Office Professional: Your copy of Office can only be installed on one PC, or Mac computer. However, you can transfer Office 2016 (or Office 2013) to another computer if you have a hardware problem or if you buy a new computer. You don't want to install all Office applications

When you install Office 2016 or Office 2013, all applications that are part of a particular Office product are installed at the same time. You cannot choose to install only individual Office applications and remove individual applications after installation is complete. However, you can remove shortcuts for apps you don't plan to use.

Advice: If you find that you need an application that is not part of the Office product, you can purchase a standalone application. For example, you might need Access or Outlook, but it's not included with your product. To purchase a standalone app, find it at https://products.office.com/ .

You want to install Office on a drive other than C

Office can only be installed on system drive on which the operating system is installed. This is usually the C drive.

Install 64-bit Office instead of 32-bit

If you have a 32-bit version of Office installed on your PC, but want to replace it with a 64-bit version, you will need to uninstall the 32-bit version and then install the 64-bit version. To uninstall the 32-bit version of Office, use the easy fix tool.

Can't install Access

If you can't find Access on your computer even though it's part of your Office 365 subscription, try the following steps in the order given.

Note: Access can only be installed on computers running Windows 7 or later. Installing Access on a Mac is not supported.

    Open an Office application such as Word or Excel and create a document.

    On the ribbon, select File > Account.

    In the Product Details section, select Update options > Refresh.

    After the update is completed, click the button Start and find Access in the list of applications.

    I'm an Office 365 administrator, but I can't install Office, Project, or Visio

    If you're trying to install Office (or Project or Visio if you have a subscription to those apps) right after signing in to Office 365 for business for the first time, you might see a message that Office can't be installed because you don't have a license.
