I began to look for these methods to increase the "open" of e-mail newsletters through personalization (specifically - adding a name).

Method performance. I tested a combination of these three methods on two small bases:

Base No. 1 - Subscribers of our client (online store). It was possible to identify 107 out of 119 (89.9%) names from an email address.

Base #2 - Subscribers of our blog (blog.etaktika.ru). It turned out to find out 105 out of 131 (80.2%) names of email owners (the database is specific, a large proportion of "corporate" emails).

The results are pleasing. Previously, we knew the names of 3-5% of users. Now it is more than 80%.

Let's start with how email addresses are formed. When a person wants to start his own business on the Internet personal mail, he goes to some mail site (Yandex, Gmail, Mail, Rambler or another).

Then he gets registered. This is something like a questionnaire that must be filled out - mail will not be given without it. So in this very questionnaire there is a login and password field. As we discussed earlier, the login is the name in the mail system, and the password is the key with which this name will be opened.

This very login is the key part in the name of your mailbox.

It is immediately followed by the @ sign. And after it comes the name of the mail site on which you started your mailbox.

For example, I registered mail on Yandex. The login is what I will open it with, so I remembered it and even wrote it down. He is like this: samopalis

So the address of my mailbox is: samopalis + @ + yandex.ru

There should not be a plus sign or even a space in the name. So my email address is: [email protected]

This is the address I must tell or write to a person in order to receive a letter from him.

But there are some features in mail systems, which often cause confusion. This is what I want to talk about in more detail.

Yandex Mail

When you make a name for yourself in this system, you are given a unique login plus the @yandex.ru part

But that is not all. In addition to each login, "increases" of the following form are given: @ya.ru, @yandex.com, @yandex.by, @yandex.ua, @yandex.kz

That is, you can give someone your address in any of these formats, and if a person writes a letter to it, then it will go straight to your mail without any problems.

So if my address is [email protected], I can easily write on a business card [email protected] or any other of the options - the letter will still come to me.

But that's not all! You can also use your mobile phone number as a login. Naturally, with the prefix @yandex.ru or any other (@ya.ru, @yandex.com, etc.). More information about this can be found at the link.

Mail.ru

When receiving a mailbox on the mail.ru website, it is proposed to choose a name for it with any of the endings: @mail.ru, @list.ru, @bk.ru, @inbox.ru.

But that doesn't mean that you can use them all. On the contrary, the name will work only with one prefix specified during registration.

This means that if you have registered an ivan login with the prefix @bk.ru, then you will be able to enter your mail only with this ending and no other. With the standard @mail.ru mail simply will not open.

Moreover, if someone sends you a letter NOT to the address [email protected], and to the address [email protected], you won't get it. In the best case, the letter will not go anywhere, and in the worst case, it will go to another person who has exactly the same login, but with a different prefix.

For example, when registering mail, I wanted to choose a name for myself [email protected], but it turned out that it was already taken. I had to choose with another prefix. If suddenly someone wants to write me a letter to the address [email protected], then it will not come to me, but to another person.

Rambler.ru

The situation is the same as with mail.ru. You can enter an address with the following prefixes: @rambler.ru, @lenta.ru, @autorambler.ru, @myrambler.ru, @ro.ru

Having received a box with the prefix @ro.ru, it is impossible to enter the mail with the same login, but under @rambler.ru. And letters sent to such an address will not reach you either.
