Until recently, one of my friends had a question about buying a laptop. From the options considered, he decided to purchase an Apple laptop, namely a MacBook Air 2015 model year. Many people I know, having heard about Apple products, usually say that their products are “show-offs and a waste of money,” that they are not worth the money and are nothing special.

So let's use an example Apple MacBook Air 2015 with 13.3-inch matrix model year, let's figure out if this is so.

Packaging and kit:

Considering that MacBook Air came out back in 2009 year, I can say that nothing has changed in this regard. The packaging is of the same high quality, made of thick cardboard with an image of a laptop on the lid and logos Apple On the sides.

The kit includes: a charger like an old pod or iPhone with various adapter options for different socket connectors, in our case it is a laptop for the Russian market with a standard two-pin plug. In principle, nothing special, but be careful, monitor the safety of this charger, if you have dogs or small children (especially in the first case), then if it is damaged you will have to fork out about 15,000-17,000 rubles. Yes, these are not at all sweet prices.

As usual, there are pieces of paper, two apple stickers and, of course, the device itself, wrapped in transparent film.

Appearance, design:

The appearance in our case is unchanged, the same high-quality aluminum. The body is completely made of aluminum. The full-size backlit keyboard is made of black rubberized plastic, has a short stroke and smooth pressing. The brightness level is changed using a keyboard key to the user's choice using two keys F5 and F6.

On the left side of the laptop there is a USB 3.0 port; connector for charger Magsafe 2 and 3.5mm headphone jack. By the way, the design of the charger connector is a very useful thing that will save you a decent amount of money saved on laptop repairs, since it is magnetic and with a sharp jerk it simply and easily bounces off the laptop.

The right side of the laptop is loaded with much the same: a high-speed Thunderbold 2 port, an SDXC card slot and, of course, USB 3.0.

And naturally, the main feature of all the company’s laptops is the glowing apple on the lid, which looks very impressive in a dark room. In general, the laptop looks very solid and expensive, and when you pick it up, you realize that you are holding something that you don’t want to let go of, by the way, the MacBook weighs only 1.35 kg.

Display:

The display diagonal of our test subject is 13.3 inches. Of course, by today's standards this is not enough, but in principle, when you use a laptop for a few minutes, you immediately get used to it, and the diagonal does not play any role. With this diagonal, the screen has a resolution of 1440 * 900 pixels. Some will say that this is not a lot, but why more - the display has excellent viewing angles, a reserve of brightness and contrast, this resolution is very acceptable, although by today's standards we can safely say - “morally outdated”.

Hardware and software:

Apple is the standard for optimization of software and computer software. Only it produces operating systems for its gadgets and computers, and in turn they (functions, design, ergonomics) are copied by the whole world. Why am I writing all this? Moreover, the company does not chase the number of processor cores and RAM, it proved to the whole world that its products work great on dual-core technologies. In our case, the laptop initially had the Mac OS X Yosemite operating system, which was then updated by me to Mac OS X El Capitan. This OS has absorbed, dare I say it, like a sponge, all the best from the company throughout its existence. Its main advantage is the closed program code and the absence of viruses, reliability and stability and, of course, the most important thing - optimization for installed components. The operating system itself has a bunch of cool features. Let's say I'm sitting at my laptop, my iPhone is in my jacket pocket at the other end of the apartment, and suddenly I receive a call on my mobile phone, which is immediately displayed on my MacBook - I click accept and calmly, without raising my butt, I communicate through the Mac. speakerphone, the same thing with SMS, which is very convenient. The speed of the laptop is simply crazy, everything opens instantly and works stably, without lags or crashes, this is very cool!

So, what achieves this level of performance? Of course, not only excellent optimization, but also not the latest hardware!

So we have on board:

  • Dual-core Intel Core i 5 with a clock frequency of 1.6 GHz, this frequency is not enough for us - not a problem, the Turbo Boost function is automatically turned on and the processor core frequency reaches 2.7 GHz, quite a noticeable increase))))
  • We have only 4 GB of RAM LPDDR 3 with a frequency of 1600 MHz, which is enough for all tasks, from video to games, but about them separately below.
  • A flash drive is also by no means an unimportant detail in our device, with a capacity of 128 GB, some will say not enough, maybe yes, but during the period of use I had enough for numerous content, be it music, movies or a few games)) ).
  • Video Intel HD graphics 6000. I don’t even know what to say about this integrated solution. In our test subject, in principle, everything is integrated and cannot be replaced. Compared to cards of this level on previous generations of Apple laptops, performance has, of course, increased, and significantly, but is still significantly inferior to competitors from the AMD camp.
  • Audio . In this regard, everything is great with us, both in the headphones and in the built-in speakers, they are quite powerful, with a pleasant clear sound. The rest of the laptops, basically, I emphasize mostly, except for expensive models (very expensive), smoke on the sidelines. This, of course, is my subjective opinion))).

Wireless interfaces - such as Wi-Fi standard 802.11ac; compatibility with the 802.11 a/b/g/n standard and Bluetooth, commonly known as “bluetooth”. Let me just say - everything flies, connects and works without any comments.

Battery and time battery life

In this regard, Comrade Air is at its best; its battery with a capacity of 54 Wh in the field will comfortably provide its user with autonomous operation for up to 10 hours exactly. With video, not everything is as smooth as on the manufacturer’s website, of course, there’s nothing to say about 12 hours there, but for its 7.5 hours it conscientiously plays movies at a medium brightness level and good volume. You can listen to music with the screen off to the point of nausea. Under good load, say when playing WOT, yes, this is not a typo, I often sit on it in tanks, it lasts about 2.5 - 3 hours. We don’t grab stars from the sky, but it’s quite acceptable. The operating cycle is 1000 charges and discharges, about 3 years, which is quite acceptable.

Thunderbold 2 digital video output

What can I say here - this is the pride of Apple engineers, it has existed in Apple products for a long time, and in our case, already in the second edition. Video transfer speeds reach up to 20 Gb/s, which is pretty good for a piece of aluminum, aircraft grade, please note, weighing 1.35 kg.

Conclusions:

As for games, many “experts” who usually do not have money for such “gadgets” usually say that Apple laptops are not for games, that they are weak and cannot do anything other than perform the function of “show-offs” in an aluminum case with glowing apple. I completely disagree with this! Yes, there are a number of problems, such as: a small number of games written under Mac OS X, As a result, you have to install all sorts of Windows emulators, on which the games do not run correctly and crash, which, of course, is not very good. Personally, I play a little, but for those who don’t understand, I play tanks in WoT calmly, on medium settings and with all the effects. The network is full of videos where people play on similar ones to our baby, by the way, on an 11-inch model in GTA 5 a pretty good indicator, but, of course, it’s too much, you can play a lot, but the noise of the fan is annoying, ours seems to be very small, I would say orphan, but it does its job 100%.

Today's review features a new Apple Macbook Air 13 early 2015, which is rich in many different reviews from consumers. Today we will talk about the main advantages of the newest flagship and also point out those features that you need to pay attention to when buying a 13-inch Macbook Air 13 2015.

The first thing you notice about the Apple Macbook Air 13 early 2015 laptop is its compactness, stylish design and unusually light weight - only 1.3 kg. Front-camera not too large and is only 1.3 megapixels. However, the 13-inch laptop, unlike the 11-inch macbook air 13 2015, has something to be proud of. For example, it has a slot for a memory card, which video bloggers and many users will be incredibly happy about. Volume internal memory is 128 GB, which is quite enough for such a small device. However, simple headphones with an AUX output cannot be connected so easily, since there is a connection option only for headphones with the Combo connection type. Also here, unfortunately, you will not find micro HDMI, HDMI and DVI output.

Every year Apple gives the world updated and improved models, and we have learned to expect new items, so we demand new technologies and maximum convenience from flagships. The manufacturer is trying to meet these requirements, for example, in the Air 13 2015 the processor has been significantly updated, a memory slot has been added, and video characteristics have been updated. However, the battery or matrix remains at the same level, leaving room for future updates.

Despite the laptop's light weight of 1.3 kg and body thickness of 17 mm, the device is quite capacious and productive, and its appearance The aluminum case looks quite elegant and reliably protects from scratches. The cosmic appearance is complemented by a variety of connected ports, including Thunderbolt, USB 3.0, audio and video outputs. Accordingly, the laptop also has wireless bluetooth connection 4.0 and WI-FI.

Although the laptop body is metal, it does not have additional moisture protection and is not protected from shock, which should be taken into account when purchasing and further use.

Using the keyboard

Many users expected a touchpad on a laptop, as is often the case with small portable devices, however, this version does not have a touchpad. Manufacturers have focused on the backlight of the Air keyboard for user convenience, so that in the dark you can use it without additional lighting. This innovation is really very useful, despite the fact that the brightness of the backlight can be adjusted. The touch trackpad perfectly replaces the mouse, but for those who are used to it, you can connect a standard mouse or a wireless one by connecting Bluetooth.

Job sound card sufficiently provided powerful speakers and a built-in microphone and in combination with a webcam provides the ability to communicate via Skype, listen to music and watch videos while high level stereo sound. There are no such features as a TV tuner or fingerprint scanner, stylus or GPS here.

Display module

The screen of the 13-inch MacBook Air has an external gloss and has a resolution of 1440 by 900 pixels with an aspect ratio of 16:10, as in its previous models. Of course, this resolution is not the best for laptops, but within the capabilities of this matrix everything is not so bad. In addition, the manufacturer has provided a bright backlight of 300 nit LEDs, so even in bright light the screen is readable and perfectly illuminated. At the same time, it must be taken into account that a glossy screen has glare in bright sunlight, so best quality will still be received in the shade. You shouldn't expect much from contrast or color rendering; in general, it is standard and based on a PSL matrix. Thanks to a good viewing angle, its screen size is 1440×900, and the picture is not lost or distorted when viewed from the side.

Air processor capabilities

The cutting-edge MacBook Air 13 is powered by a Core i5-4260U processor developed by by Intel. The two processor cores reach a frequency of 1.4 GHz, but have the ability to increase power to 2.7 GHz with additional computing loads. If desired, you can purchase a version with dual core Core processor i7, but accordingly you will have to overpay a little.

In many respects, the processor’s operation is ensured thanks to the built-in graphics accelerator, operating at 200 - 950 MHz, based on Intel HD 5000. The graphics accelerator allows you to watch high-quality HD videos on a MacBook Air, and fairly intensive games are not poorly implemented in such graphical conditions.

The efficiency of the processor is due to the 15 W graphics chip, which allows you to wisely use the laptop's energy. Thanks to SSD drive, user data is stored and accumulated in a processing unit with a capacity of 128 GB in the smallest version of the configuration and 512 GB for the more reliable version. There are no slots for expanding the MacBook's internal memory. However, there is support for SD and SDHC, as well as slots for removable flash drives and SDXC. Great capacity plus speed operating system and a graphic editor in conditions of low resolution and portability make the laptop a truly indispensable assistant on the go and in the office, where you will always be on top with the small, lightweight, but at the same time the fastest and smartest Macbook Air 13.

In addition, a MacBook can be equipped with sufficient RAM from 4 to 8 GB, which ensures high performance on it. For DVD lovers, unfortunately, there is no built-in optical drive.

Autonomy and connectivity

The battery life on the Macbook Air 13, thanks to the lithium-polymer battery, reaches 12 hours, which is one of the worthy indicators for choosing a laptop computer. It is unlikely that a modern laptop from competing models can boast such a long laptop operation. However, despite all the advantages, the disadvantage is the lack of built-in 3G communication in the MacBook; there is also no support for 4G LTE communication and HSDPA, WiMAX and EDGE.

Availability

If you want to buy a modern ultra-thin Macbook Air 13 laptop, then the price of the device still remains as high. Unfortunately, its cost has not changed downward as it did in the United States or other countries. In Russia in 2015, the price of a Macbook still varies between 35-58 thousand rubles, depending on the version configuration.

Any Apple technology in the minds of consumers is associated exclusively with style and prestige. Despite their price, almost all products of this company are always popular around the world. Sometimes there are exceptions, like the iPhone 5C, which didn't take off.Today we look at the latest MacBook Air with a screen diagonal of 13 inches 2015.

I will consider it from the zero coordinate, so to speak, from clean slate. Although there are already enough reviews on the Internet about how difficult it was to switch from Windows to a Mac, I will try to move away from this approach and will consider the entire experience from the perspective of the ratio of the cost of the device to the pleasure of using it. Let's get started.

We open the box and find a metal cutting board wrapped in several layers of transparent film.

Like all products from the apple company, when you remove the film you can immediately smell the smell of a new device, which disappears in a few days. However, you can catch it later if you sniff the USB ports or audio output. I don’t know why to do this, but this is for your information.

Apple was a little greedy with connectors. On the right there is a Thunderbolt 2 port, followed by a USB port and a card reader with support for reading SDXC cards.

On the left is the Magsafe charging input, followed by a USB port and audio output, and there are two tiny microphone holes. And that’s it, no HDMI and a couple more USBs for you. On the other hand, they take the device for the wrong reason.

The laptop really seems impossibly thin, but this is just an optical illusion: only the edges are thin and their thickness increases closer to the center of the case. Roughly the same principle was used in the iMac.

The body of our hero is made of aluminum, which undoubtedly adds both weight and strength to it. But not everything is so rosy, since it is quite easy to get dents on the corners. For example, if you are trying to get through the closing doors of a subway car while running, or if you hit a bag of poppy seeds on the door frame.

The case is not always able to successfully resist scratches. During the first couple of months without a case, you will definitely grab a couple of nicks on the case. The first of them will most likely appear on both sides of the touchpad. The culprits of these scratches are the metal parts of the watch strap or fitness bracelet.

One of my friends, having learned that I use a MacBook, thoughtfully said: “The main thing is not to spill a smoothie on it during a coworking space, otherwise the repier will be very expensive.” Unfortunately, I had to Google the meaning of some words in this sentence.

Having experience working on different laptops, you get used to the generally universal movement of the buttons on the keyboard. But here you will have to get used to it again. In my opinion, the key travel is very soft and sometimes some characters are not printed because you don’t press the buttons hard enough. Luckily, you get used to it pretty quickly.

I would also like to highlight the touchpad.

Mouse movements are very smooth. You get used to the gestures so much that later on other computers a warm memory comes to mind when on a Mac they all worked quickly, correctly and the first time. Response time is very fast. That is, the touch pad is a pleasure to work with. Basically, after a while you get used to it so much that a simple mouse seems big and clumsy. No matter how absurd it may sound.

On the left is the 2015 MacBook Air 13, on the right is its 11-inch brother from 2012.

The screen is noticeably different from other laptops. He's acting here business card, according to which it can be safely used as a standard. Its viewing angles are no worse than those of smartphones, but if we consider the vertical angles, then when the lid is tilted forward as much as possible, some negativity already appears in the picture.

The display has a glossy finish, thanks to which we can make sure that no matter how much we wash our hands, they will still remain dirty. On the other hand, it copes well with direct sunlight, coupled with auto-brightness turned on.

MacBook Air 13" specifications (model MJVE2RU or A1466):

  • Intel Core i5 processor with a frequency of 1.6 GHz (chip model I5-5250U, 2 cores, 3 MB cache)
  • Turbo Boost processor speed up to 2.7 GHz
  • RAM 4 GB LPDDR3 (low power), 1600 MHz
  • graphics built-in Intel HD Graphics 6000, 1536 MB DDR3L SDRAM, allocated from free RAM
  • screen 13.3 inches, TFT, resolution 1440 x 900 pixels
  • front camera FaceTime HD (720p)
  • 128 GB SSD hard drive (PCIe slot)
  • wireless interfaces Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g/n/ac), Bluetooth 4.0 (with BLE support)
  • connectors: 2 USB port 3.0, Thunderbolt 2 port, MagSafe 2 power connector, headphone jack (3.5 mm audio out, full EarPods support), SDXC card reader

  • dimensions: 32.5 x 22.7 x 0.3 - 1.7 cm
  • weight 1.35 kg

I need to make a small remark. Initially, the built-in Wi-Fi module supports operation in the 802.11 ac range, but due to restrictions of Russian legislation, it is artificially cut to 802.11 a/b/g/n. Want ac support? Buy a laptop abroad.

I won’t talk about the difficulty of switching from Windows to Macintosh, I will only say that the “Apple” operating system has many useful functions that “windows” lack. Although they can be installed on Windows, some falsehood will still be present. And the system works quite quickly and stably, considering its not the most powerful hardware.

There are no problems with the software, but if there is a need for something specific that is not in the official application store, you will have to pay. Well, or live on sites with hacked Mac applications.

I liked the iPhone integration. This is just a small taste of how convenient it is to use several Apple devices at once. Any notification will be displayed inside the interface. You add a calendar event, and it appears on your phone. It's a small thing, but it's convenient.

A few words about autonomy. The laptop has a 7333 mAh battery, which allows you to experience freedom from wires for about 12 hours, according to Apple. The most interesting thing is that the battery life can be longer if you reduce the screen brightness to minimum, turn off all wireless interfaces except Wi-Fi and turn off the keyboard backlight. Then he will be able to hold out for a couple of hours more, but at what cost. It won’t be very comfortable to work in this mode, but it will significantly extend the life of the Mac. In general, the promises of autonomy are true, at least in that the laptop can easily withstand a working day, starting with 100% battery charge.

On the left is an 11-inch MacBook Air 2012, and on the right is our hero

And now the main question: who needs it and why?

Well, firstly, to journalists and bloggers who are engaged specifically in writing. Typing on a MacBook is a pleasure. If you put nice office, then it will work even faster than on Windows. Working through cloud systems, such as Google Docs, is also much more pleasant, while battery consumption is kept to a minimum. Well, there is no need to talk about the other advantages of the functionality, you just need to try it and a positive opinion will come by itself.

Who else would it suit? Designers and photographers who deal with graphic editors. There may not be enough power, but it will still be possible to effectively solve some relatively simple problems. The functionality of special Apple software can be the envy of any Windows. What can I say, the optimization of the software component to the hardware is almost ideal.

If you have any other ideas where our hero would fit in 100%, then go ahead in the comments.

As for those who like to play, I have bad news for you. At the very least, it will be possible to run non-productive games, but with some caution. It even launches the original Half Life seemingly immediately and quickly, but from the start of the game the processor begins to work with increased load, while connecting the cooler. In general, it begins to warm up noticeably, and judging by the sound of the cooler, the laptop is planning to take off.

And this, for a moment, is the situation with the game, which was released when this poppy was not in the design drawings!

The situation is worse with more productive games. Let's not go too far - we're talking about Half Life 2.

Then the cooler started blowing from the menu. During the game, it clearly could not cope with the load, which is why almost the entire body became very hot. Therefore, I only managed to play for about an hour, and then I simply began to fear for the further performance of the computer and turned it off out of sin. It's not worth a lot of money.

The maximum modification of our hero has an Intel Core i7 processor with a frequency of 2.2 GHz. I'm afraid if I run on it powerful game(for example Metro 2033), then after 10 minutes the upper part of the body will turn into a hob suitable for preparing breakfast.

What is the essence of this problem? The simple fact is that the Air in particular is simply not designed for gaming. Well, at worst, not so productive. Browser or Flash (for old-school fans) is the maximum.

What would you like to say as a conclusion? The MacBook Air has a number of significant advantages, which form the basis of its competitiveness:

Firstly, these are its dimensions, thickness and, in a general sense, appearance. It feels a little heavy to carry due to the metal body. But here the use of metal is more than advisable. Otherwise it would bend like an iPhone 6.

Secondly, Mac OS, which, although inferior in functionality to Windows, is far ahead in terms of security, stability and speed. Well, she is simply more beautiful, in my subjective opinion.

But there are some downsides here too.

The first and most serious thing is its price. On the other hand, high prices apply to all Apple products, so why be surprised? But there is some reason for the high price.

For example, here’s how the Mercedes company positions itself: you don’t buy a car, you buy a lifestyle. Owning a Mercedes shows your financial status.

It’s the same here. You pay that kind of money for everything to work comfortably and stably. You are buying a nice appearance, user-friendly operating system, and build quality. Here you are absolutely sure that this computer will not malfunction and show for no reason “ blue screen of death". It is impossible here, while installing the application, accidentally forgetting to uncheck the box, install the Amigo browser and other garbage, which can only be gotten rid of by ritually burning the computer at midnight from February 31st to 32nd. There is no urgent need for an antivirus here.

It seems like I'm praising this computer too much and that I've suddenly become an Apple fan. Not at all. I got to know this product and its entire ecosystem and liked it. I'm sure it's for work best computer. But for entertainment you should still use good old Windows.

In a couple of months, Apple will introduce a new generation of MacBook with updated hardware. Probably, the presentation of the new product will resemble the recent one iPhone presentation SE, which did not leave the best aftertaste. After all, owners of the iPhone 5S can now put a case on it and tell everyone that it has an SE. However, I digress.

The second disadvantage I would call is the limitations of the system.

Let me give you a metaphor: Windows is plasticine. You can mold it into whatever you want. If you are already an adult and know how to work with your hands, then you will get a beautiful figure that will please you and stand firmly on the shelf. But if you give plasticine into the hands of a child who does not know how to sculpt, then all sorts of dirt (for example, viruses, malware) will get into the plasticine and you will end up with a shapeless heap of something incomprehensible, vaguely reminiscent of what you originally wanted, and on an unstable basis , due to which this pile will constantly fall off the shelf.

While the Mac is a brand new 3D printer. Even without knowing how to model beautifully, in the end you still get exactly what you wanted. It is enough to be able to download a CAD model from the Internet and load it into a printing program. The printing itself, in this case, occurs in clean cell, without dust and dirt.

The guy in the photo clearly likes him

In any case, whether to buy it or not is up to you to decide. If the choice falls on Mac, then there will definitely be no fear that you will do something wrong and everything will be covered with a copper basin. Plus, you'll look pretty cool sitting with him in some coffee shop. Of course, if this coffee shop is not located in Moscow (you won’t surprise anyone here with “Makom”).

Cost of MacBook Air 13" 2015 model range(last on this moment) starts from 77,999 rubles for the version with i5 and 128 GB SSD drive. Of course, we are talking about official deliveries. You can also buy the gray version, but you won’t be able to save much - the purchase will cost 8 thousand less.

I must say that prices have now dropped slightly for a specific device, so you shouldn’t put off the purchase if you are already ready to purchase it.

Already on sale Price: RUB 77,999 or 92,990 rub.
